The Essential Lightweight Down Duvet
A Perfect Lightweight Duvet
Made with recycled European down and an ultra-soft long cotton shell, our essential duvet feels airier and softer than any comforter on the market — making it a perfect lightweight duvet.
That lightness is balanced beautifully with an admirable fill power of 650, giving the blanket enough substance to handle the occasional summer chill. A cluster-fill process and a bafflebox architecture keep the down and feathers evenly distributed and prevent random "hotspots."
Recycling makes the blanket lighter and the down ethical. A natural anti-microbial treatment plus the natural qualities of premium down make the planet entirely sanitized, anti-microbial and hypoallergenic.
Recycled European Down
We’re using exclusively 100% European down, collected primarily in Italy and France. After Canada, Europe famously produces the best down in the World. Recycling it makes the blanket lighter and the down ethical (no live plucking).
Long Staple Cotton Sateen Shell
You'll notice we really like long-staple cotton. The longer threads allow the craftsmen to take some liberties, making for a dramatically softer blanket that doesn't bunch up and never gets too hot.
Hypoallergenic & Antimicrobial
Not all down products are treated with anti-microbial and not all our hypoallergenic – ours is. That means dogs, kids, and anything else you’d like is welcome on the bed without worries.
Down is an inherently sustainable material. It is naturally occurring and compostable, and all by-products from Down processing are also biodegradable. All of this together means that own has the lowest carbon footprint of all insulating materials.
By never live plucking, we save thousands of birds from needless suffering.
The gold standard for authentic down, the Downmark® label certifies that our partner has complied with stringent quality assurance requirements, meaning that the product you are about to purchase is made with genuine, high-quality Down.
Lightweight, Cool and Breezy
Lightness is not easy. We achieve it by using recycled down, a lower fill power than our norm, a cotton sateen shell and and masterful build. This keeps the duvet almost unbelievably light and cloud-like and prevents it from ever overheating or from creating random hotspots.
A 400 thread-count, 100% Long-staple Cotton Sateen Shell houses our down clusters. That's the same stuff we use for our bestselling Turkish towels and it makes the blanket noticeably smoother and softer, keeping it from roughing up your skin or from bunching up.
That's the grid design you see all over the duvet — it keeps the down evenly distributed and your duvet evenly fluffy. We paid a lot of attention to every piece of this architecture, down to the size of the squares. And we landed on this grid because we felt like it was the perfect balance for all kinds of sleepers (blanket-huggers and sparse-coverers alike).
We didn’t just select a color from a list of available options — we made something entirely new. We worked with our supplier in Canada test several different shades of white. Finally, we landed on the perfect color for Move down— Snow. It’s a quintessential and iconic ultra-white.

The Family Down Business in Canada
Our Canadian manufacturer of bedding and home décor products has over 35 years’ experience in the down industry.
The company was originally founded in 1980, and at the time was primarily focused on bedding products until Ellis Chitiz purchased the company in 2007. With a strong background in the home fashion industry and a history in retail environments, he began to expand the company portfolio to include decorative cushions and laundry products.
Today, Ellis’ sons, Lee and Mitchell are at the helm of operations and production. This allows them to have a more hands-on approach to running the business and helps to create closer and more personal relationships with customers and staff.
After 35 years, it's safe to say that no one knows down as well as the Chitiz's do.
